Well, Parking cars in Penang has always been an interesting issue. Maybe one way we can help is separate the times for Mass longer. I know that when the Chinese Mass ends at 9.30am, a number of the Chinese worshippers do not go home immediately becoz of Cathechism or some event. but then the 10am mass people are coming in already.. maybe a bit more time in between the masses will help to ease the congestion.
I like the idea of not pulling the handbrake.. it is what happens at Rifle Range and all the residents there understand it.
Carpooling : People in Penang do not understand carpooling... including me
But lets try... to be more patient, more understanding, more giving.. and lastly more considerate esp when parking our cars..
"God is love" unfortunately, sometimes his people forget that.. |

Yeah…..I do agree in separating the times for Masses longer so that there’s ample time for worshippers of the earlier Mass to make their way out and the worshippers of the next Mass to come in.
Also, if you do notice, this problem does not only occur on Sunday masses. In fact, for those worshippers that frequently come on Saturday will attest to this problem – traffic congestion. Many parents will tend to wait for their children to finish catechism classes to bring them home. At the same time, streams of people have started to come in for Novena (which starts at 5.30pm) and also for Sunset Mass. If the Catechism classes can end 10 - 15 minutes earlier (i.e. classes will then have to begin 10 - 15 minutes earlier), it’ll at least help.
Carpooling : I too find it difficult to “adopt” this concept, and am sure most Penangites find it difficult too.
Not pulling the handbrakes : Need to be considerate when pushing the cars, we do not want the cars to end up “kissing” each other, like what happens frequently in Rifle Range (where I used to live).
We are the church of Christ …… just be more understanding, thoughtful and tolerant with one another to work things out |

Paul suggestion is valid but I don't think that the people mindset can adopt to it yet, just last Sunday, my car and another car that attend Chinese Mass were blocked by a kancil park not following "rule" and with the hand break pulled... we have to wait until the English mass finish before the kancil owner pull out her car..
For many of us, park your car mean automatically pull hand break. So I would suggest putting up a reminder on the projected screen before Mass or during communion to remind people on the rules suggested by Paul..... |
