Season of Creation (SoC) is an annual celebration to pray and respond together to the care for our common home. It begins on 1 September 2023, World Day of Prayer for Care of Creation, and ends on 4 October 2023, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.
This year we unite around the theme “Let Justice and Peace Flow” with the symbol of A Mighty River inspired by a scripture text from the Prophet Amos “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24).
The “Protect Our Earth, Protect Our Children” (PROTEC) theme this year is: “Cut Fuel Consumption” is in line with the Decarbonising Malaysia Project. It will run from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024.
Global warming is a serious issue –with effects on our Ocean, Weather, Food supply and our Health. We are due to hit 1.5°C of warming in the next decade at current emission rates and a CODE RED warning has been issued to humanity. We invite everyone – as witnesses of faith, hope and love, to make changes in our life to reduce our carbon footprint, in particular:-
- Cut Fuel Consumption.
- Reduce Waste – Bring Your Own Container (BYOC) and Avoid Single Use Plastic.
- Segregate Waste to Recycle/Reuse.
- Grow A Plant – to replenish our carbon footprint.
