Heavenly Father,
We thank you for our mothers. We thank you for the ways our mother takes care of us, how she teaches us and sacrifices so much for us and our families.
We pray for new mothers with newborn babies, mothers with growing children, mothers whose children have been raised and are now adults, foster mothers who are taking care of children who are orphans and needing a safe refuge, mothers who are raising their children as a single parent, mothers who have an estranged relationship with their children and mothers who did not raise us in our youth, but who came into our lives by marriage.
Bless every mother with the finest of your spiritual blessings today. Confirm in her heart and spirit the work of her hands and the love that she has so freely given to the children under her care. Validate her worth daily so that she has no reason to doubt whether she is loved, valued and cherished in the eyes of her Heavenly Father. Be her strength and joy when she is weak and burdened. Father, be the lifter of her head and the pillar she can lean on.
Let her joy be contagious, let her passion be pure and let her life overflow with all the blessings she rightly deserves – on special days like this and on every day of her life. In Jesus’s name we pray.
